Bradley Lake Park. Technically this is a Puyallup City park, but is located close enough to South Hill residential areas to be of interest. Has a pleasant (& popular) walking trail around the lake, a bit shorter than 1 mile, and large green spaces for frisbee tossing. Great for picnics. Located east (back of) Wal-Mart.

Meridian Habitat Park. Known for years as "The Amphitheatre", this is now under Pierce County Parks and Recreation management. Inside the building is a very nice auditorium. Since usage policies are still being defined as of this posting, contact county parks for more information.

South Hill Community Park. A relatively new park on 86th Ave & 144th St. with a big soccer field and a nice kids playground. There's also a long, paved path (The Nathan Chapman Trail) through the woods that connects to Heritage Recreation Center, the big playfields near Rogers High School.

South Hill Library. The busiest branch in the county library system. Has lots of Internet stations and a helpful Information Desk right as you walk in the front door.

The complex intersection between Meridian Ave and the 167 Hwy off ramps, near parking lot of Target at South Hill Mall, offers one of the best views of Mt. Rainier around! Great if you are an undistracted passenger. (A good reason to carpool. ;-)
